Just like Vegas. . .

My college friend, Jamie, kept himself pretty entertained on a family trip to France once when he was younger by loudly exclaiming over and over again:

“Wow! This is JUST like Vegas!”

while standing in front of the Eiffle Tower.  Apparently, the remark was met with looks of shock and horror from fellow tourists who were either A) appalled by his feigned lack of culture or B) dismayed that they had spent so much on a family trip to Europe when a $99 Southwest flight to Vegas and a night’s stay at the classy establishment Paris, Paris would have sufficed.

I digress.

When planning a surprise bachelorette for Beth, friend and training partner extraordinaire, we wanted something equally “JUST like Vegas!”. . .but not.

As in, just as fun, just as ridiculous, and–most importantly– just as replete with opportunities to embarrass her as your run ‘o the mill Vegas Bachelorette. . .but, minus the 4am clubbing and the associated hangover.

Beth, the "Most Beautiful Bride-to-Be"!

What to do for a most athletic and wonderful bride-to-be?

Why, a scavenger hunt bike ride would seem a most appropriate activity!

(Yes, we are dorks.  Huge tri dorks).

I  skipped swim practice to deliver the goods we’d selected at various places across town (A missed off season swim session? Oh! the sacrifice!), then met up with Beth for our planned ride.  As soon as she rolled up, I handed her a card which read:

After the pool,

you’ll need to refuel. . .

Follow me to Berry Happy frozen yogurt.

Clearly, I’ve got too much time to think during off season.  Aptly, she looked at me as though I had 3 heads–or at least one head with really lame thoughts in it–since she had no clue what was going on at this point.  Fortunately, the other chicas were waiting just down the street armed with the necessities of a bachelorette bike ride–a banner, veil, tutu, and pink floral helmet decorations.

Fro yo pre ride lunch with bike helmets.  Not sure why we didn’t take those off. . .Beth still looks confused.

Here’s the clue for your first task, all you have to do is ask:

“Do you have something here for me?

Me, the most beautiful bride to be?”

Flat tire, broken chain. . if you don’t know the guys at this shop, it’s your loss

Head here for the _____ to toss!

There were lots of other stops, but I think you get the gist. . .it was a fantastic afternoon celebrating Beth’s last days of freedom before marrying James; )  JUST like Vegas, only better!  Congrats you two!
